My hope is that this will not only be a creative release for me, allowing me to talk freely about one of my passions, but also to be informative, and allow others to discover movies and films for the very first time. Some of the titles listed here will be fairly well-known, while others may be what some consider "indie, cult, out of the norm, etc." Some will be award-winners, while some will be guilty pleasures. Hopefully, you'll consider giving some of them a try.
I believe that movies allow us to experience storytelling in a way that other forms don't allow for. We can read books together, but each person is allowed the freedom to create the world that is written on the page, in their own mind with their own creativity. We can listen to music together, but any song that follows the storytelling method, is still subject to our own creativity and ideas as to the visual nature of it.
With movies and films, we are given the sound and visuals upfront (unless of course we're watching some of the classic silent films). Our only task is to receive the information, and process our perceptions based on what we've experienced (which usually leads to many healthy debates and discussions).
This blog is not for the purposes of reviewing movies currently in theaters, or to try and persuade you to buy any title you see listed. Each day, a new film will be listed, with information about it, and why I like it. I'm in no way a professional critic, and none of the postings you see on here will try to persuade you of this. This is simply a collected listing of movies I enjoy, and that I think others would enjoy as well. For those of you interested in any of the titles you see listed, there are usually plenty of options for seeing them. Links will be included in every posting where you can purchase the title if you wish. You can also add the title to your Netflix list, or even try and find a (legal!) digital copy online.
My hope is that you'll discover something new, that you might not have tried before. And hopefully, you'll find something that stays with you, the way that many of these have stayed with me.
